Jeff and Brent (the head chef) Hayhurst opened Chancey’s Grill in September 2010. The restaurant is named to honor the memory of Jeff’s beloved chocolate lab companion Chance. Thus Chancey’s Grill came to life. Their goal was to establish a great restaurant that also served beer and wine – not just a bar that served food. They not only accomplished their goal but have excelled in creating a casual family atmosphere that provides everyone with a relaxing dining experience.

Chancey’s Grill offers a full menu of steaks, ribs, seafood, pasta, burgers, hoagies, sandwiches, soups and salads for people of all ages. Not to mention some of the best hot wings and chili in north central WV.

DURBIN ROCKET:
In historic Durbin, you have the opportunity to ride & experience the sights & sounds of one of the rarest steam locomotives in existence. The DURBIN ROCKET Excursion Train is powered by a rare steam locomotive; Old #3, one of only three operating Climax geared logging locomotives on earth. This 55-ton antique was built in 1910 for the Moore-Keppel Lumber Company in nearby Randolph County. Today you can ride in authentic 1920-era coach and vintage wooden cabooses behind #3 as she puffs & whistles her way along the free-flowing Greenbrier River in Northern Pocahontas County. Your ride covers 11 miles in 2 hours and offers many beautiful river and mountain views in the Monongahela National Forest.

CASTAWAY CABOOSE:
The CASTAWAY CABOOSE is one of the most interesting overnight accommodations you'll ever experience. We have completely refurbished two original Wabash RR cabooses into comfortable efficiency suites on rails. Your overnight package includes a round-trip fare on the DURBIN ROCKET steam train ride where you will be "castaway" at the remote Hevener Station picnic area. Located several miles from the nearest encroachment of the modern world, this secluded wilderness setting along the beautiful Greenbrier River is where you will spend the evening with only the rushing waters of the river to break the quiet of the night. At the end of your stay the train will pull your caboose car back to Durbin where you will be treated to your first glimpse of civilization!

NEW TYGART FLYER:
The ingenuity of men combine with the grandeur of the Appalachian Mountains to produce one of the most exciting mountain wilderness excursion rides in the U.S. The NEW TYGART FLYER is a 4-hour, 46-mile round trip departing at 11:00 AM from a restored depot in the downtown Elkins historic district. The ride features two separate mountain grades, a spectacular "S" curve tunnel and mile after mile of unspoiled mountain wilderness. The comfortable climate-controlled streamliner twists and climbs along the cascading Shavers Fork of the Cheat River into a deep canyon area. At this point your trip has reached the inspirational "High Falls of Cheat," an 18' high, 150' wide waterfall in one of the most remote and pristine settings in the eastern United States. A 45 minute stop is made to allow everyone an opportunity to detrain and enjoy the wilderness area around the falls.

CHEAT MOUNTAIN SALAMANDER:
The route of the CHEAT MOUNTAIN SALAMANDER has been extended to include a spectacular 128 mile, 9-hour round trip through one the largest wilderness areas in the eastern US. Travel into the high country spruce forests of legendary Cheat Mountain on the most distinctive rail excursion in the eastern US. This 9-hour ride transports you through mile after mile of unbroken, untamed mountain wilderness that relatively few people have actually seen. In fact, this rugged mountain area is so inhospitable, neither early settlers nor contemporary society have opted to settle here. As a result, with the exception of early 20th century resource extraction activities, this stronghold of nature remains largely as it was before modern civilization arrived. We also offer a 6 ½ hour round trip and 3 hour round trip on select days.

MOUNTAIN EXPLORER DINNER TRAIN:
We invite you to enjoy an evening of fine dining on our beautifully appointed MOUNTAIN EXPLORER DINNER TRAIN as it travels through some of the best scenery in the eastern US. Train travel and fine dining have been one of the great pleasures enjoyed by previous generations of Americans. As faster modes of transportation evolved, the magnificent long-distance passenger trains began to disappear, thus bringing to a close the era of dining car service.
